Fourth Annual Reno Historic Races to feature an H-Modified Reunion

Tony Settember as special guest

FERNLEY, Nev. The Reno Historic Races will honor the H-Modified racing class, the longest-lived internationally sanctioned racing class in existence, at this year's event. The fourth annual Reno Historic Races will take place May 4 through 6 at the Reno-Fernley Raceway, located at 1855 Hwy 95A, 30 minutes east of Reno.

The Reno Historic Races delivers an exciting blend of historic production and special purpose-built racecars. The world-class historic cars are divided into groups according to make, age and horsepower. A typical representation includes racecars from prestigious manufacturers such as Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche and Corvette that were raced in great series such as Formula One, Can-Am, and Winston Cup stock cars. One of the more notable features of the event is its "open paddock," which allows spectators the opportunity to walk right up to the valued vehicles and interact with the driver and crew.

2007 Great Race to finish in Anaheim, California

Great American Race 2007 organizers are pleased to announce that the 25th Anniversary Great Race will finish in Anaheim, California. The City of Anaheim, home to Disneyland and the 2002 World Champion Anaheim Angels, will host the Great Race finish for the third time. On both previous occasions, in 1999 and 2002, “Chamber of Commerce” weather and enthusiastic crowds marked our visits. Anaheim will celebrate its sesquicentennial in 2007 and Great Race will be a highlight of the festivities.

So, if you’ve been sitting on the fence, trying to decide whether or not to participate, Bill Ewing hope you “get off the fence” and join them for the 25th Anniversary Great Race. This year’s race features world-class rally racing over some of the most beautiful roads in America, accompanied by festivities all along the race route that we know you will enjoy.

For the past few weeks, the organizers have been describing some of what you will experience. From a rousing start in NASCAR country, Concord, North Carolina, to some good old fashion Tennessee hospitality, courtesy of Corky Coker and Coker Tire, the first few days of Great American Race 2007 will be memorable. Day 4 will be no different.

The 2007 Annie & Steve Norman Classic Motorcar Rally

The 2007 Annie & Steve Norman Classic Motorcar Rally is now being planned. Sign-up is underway for the 14th Annual Rally, scheduled for June 7-10th, 2007. The rally will be centered in Anacortes, Washington. Home base will be The Majestic Inn and Spa in Anacortes, Washington.

If you take part to this event you will rally throughout the Skagit, Island, and Whatcom counties, covering about 150 miles per day.

Since the 2001 rally, the organizers have allowed newer cars to be used. They offer an additional participant class for sporting motorcars built since 1974. Cars produced up to 1973 will compete in the 'classic division' while cars built since 1973 will compete in the 'contemporary division'. Both divisions will run the same rally routes but scoring will be separate for each division and awards will be presented for each division. This allows owners of newer cars to participate in the rallies but will not allow the newer cars to compete directly with older cars.

HSRCA: 'NO FRILLS' Event Cancelled

Earlier today we received an email from the HSRCA. Disappointingly, it is necessary for the HSRCA to advise the cancellation of its one-day event planned for Sunday 11th February 2007.

As of 9:00am today (Friday 9th February 2007) the new owners of Wakefield Park and CAMS have not been able to come to an understanding regarding the track license agreement for 2007. This situation prevents CAMS from issuing the HSRCA a permit for the meeting and we therefore have no choice but to cancel this event.

This situation does not affect the HSRCA Family Day planned for Saturday 10th February which does not require a CAMS permit. This event will take place as planned.

Classic Team's Chevette First entry for RallyFeste

The Classic Rally Team of John Kershaw and Jane Buckman, who will drive their 1976 Vauxhall Chevette, was the first of over a dozen entries already received by organisers for the Dunlop Rallyfeste, which will celebrate four decades of New Zealand Rallying.

Organising committee chairman Laurie Brenssell commented “It was not surprising to see that John and Jane were first on the list of entrants for the Rally section of the Rallyfeste celebration, they are passionate rally fans, and great supporters of the sport”.

Their philosophy in rallying is “Enjoy it, be a good sport, look after your sponsors, respect your competitors and officials, be an ambassador for motorsport, be competitive and get to the end!”

Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship

Gravel and asphalt awards for the BHRC

Two new awards in the Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship will reward crews with particular expertise on the gravel or asphalt events.

Water End Properties will sponsor trophies for the best performance on gravel and the best performance on asphalt, which will be in addition to the regular overall championship awards.

The BHRC remains a mixed-surface championship, but organisers from the HRCR recognise that some crews have a preference for either one of the two surfaces, and the new awards will allow them to compete for end of season awards, even if they do not contest all nine rounds of the championship. Winners of the major BHRC awards will not be eligible for these trophies.
