Donington Collection to recreate history at GPlive

The world famous Donington Grand Prix Collection, with over 130 exhibits, the largest collection of Grand Prix racing cars in the world, will play a key role in the GPlive event at Donington Park in May. In addition to its five halls packed with treasures, a special “Donington Dozen” display in the paddock will feature twelve of the Collection’s most iconic cars. On the track, the museum will also help stage a recreation of one of the most exciting British Grand Prix races ever.

The Collection will help GPlive celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the victory by Stirling Moss in the 1957 British Grand Prix at Aintree. It was the first-ever World Championship race to be won by a British car driven by a British driver, and as the Donington Collection’s reconstruction at GPlive will demonstrate, it was due to a selfless piece of teamwork by Moss’s Vanwall team-mate Tony Brooks, who handed over his car to Moss, after Stirling’s had developed engine trouble.

Since 2004, Classic Endurance Racing has for one hour put onto the track the cars which wrote the pages of endurance racing between 1966 & 1974.

The 2007 calendar will, as in 2004 & 2005 be inclued in the Le Mans Series programme. The 2007 calendar include the following races:

13, 14 & 15 April - For the cars of CER, the return to Monza signifies a return to home as the Milan circuit is a must in the endurance racing field. To recall the season on the track when on that day in 1966 the Monza 1000km was born, where epic duel between Ford and Ferrari is without doubt a pleasure which the CER drivers did not believe they would see again after last years ‘Green’ episode where the superb noise of these dream cars seemed to have disappeared forever from the parc of Monza.
