In this issue:

The theme of the fifteenth Goodwood Festival of
Speed, due to be held over the weekend of 22 - 24
June 2007, will be 'Spark of Genius - Breaking Records,
Pushing Boundaries.'
Through this theme, Goodwood will celebrate the glory of
the individual competitors and engineering visionaries who
took risks in their quest for victory. From the brave
drivers and riders who campaigned in the first Brooklands
and Isle of Man TT races 100 years ago, through to the
land speed record breakers and the cream of the current F1
and World Rally Championship (WRC) competitors, all have
made their mark and will be honoured at the 2007 Festival.
The 2007 theme promises to provide an exciting line-up of
rarely-seen, pioneering competition and road machines, as
well as legendary driving and riding heroes, past and
present. Festival visitors can expect to see innovative
racing cars that pioneered technical benefits now
commonplace in many everyday family cars, including four-wheel-drive
and turbo-charging, in addition to less conventional
features, such as six-wheels and ground effects for
improved traction.

Motor Racing Legends has announced the eligible years for Le
Mans Legend 2007, the historic support race to
the modern Le Mans 24 Hours. On the morning of Saturday
16th June 2007, a few hours before the start of the world’s
greatest endurance race, a grid of 61 Le
Mans cars from 1956 to 1968 will take to the famous La
Sarthe circuit for a one-hour, two-driver support race.
“The period we have chosen for the 2007 Le Mans
Legend race covers the great ‘Ferrari era’ at
Le Mans,” says Motor Racing Legends Chairman, Duncan
Wiltshire, “and leads to the emergence of the Ford GT40
and Ford’s eventual domination of the 24 Hours. To many,
the Ford vs Ferrari battles of the 1960s encapsulate the
very essence of Le Mans history. But by taking the
eligible years back to 1956, we will also cover the two
Ecurie Ecosse wins in Jaguar D-types; followed by
Ferrari’s incredible string of victories from 1958 to
1965, broken only by Aston Martin’s win in 1959 with its
fabulous DBR1.
“The chosen era is also the time of the Aston Martin DB4
GT and Project cars; of the Lightweight E-types, not to
mention an immense variety of Porsches; plus MGA and MGB;
Maserati Birdcage and AC Cobra; Triumphs and Lotuses;
Austin-Healey Sprite and Morgan; and a wealth of other
intriguing models from the Alfa Romeo T33 to Alpine A210
Renault, Bizzarrini, Morgan and Abarth. In short, we are
highly excited at the prospect of revisiting so many
historic battles at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans
weekend.”

and you can see that we are just over 200 days away from
the official start of the 25th Anniversary Great Race.
By now, you've probably heard that the official start city
for GREAT AMERICAN RACE 2007, presented by Interstate
Batteries is Concord, North Carolina.
As a matter of fact, earlier this week Mr. Jack Roush, a
Great Race veteran of 10 years, assisted us in making the
announcement to the Charlotte media. The Press Conference,
held at Roush Racing's headquarters in Concord was also
attended by one of Roush Racing's leading drivers, Carl
Edwards, Jack's daughter and son-in-law, Dale and Susan
McClenaghan, who are also GR veterans and Allan Miles
another GR Veteran. Concord Mayor Scott Padgett, many
members of Concord's City Council and CVB were also on
hand for the announcement.
Do you want to join for the 25th Anniversary Great
American Race? There is many ways for you to

A routine end of season engine eligibility check within
the 2006 Armajaro MSA British Historic Rally Championship

complying with championship regulations.
Series eligibility scrutineer Paul Loveridge sealed the

Nine months before the start of Tour Britannia
entries are rolling in at an unprecedented rate. The third
running of the historic Race Tour will take place from 3rd
to 6th September. "The reputation of this classic
Race Tour for quality competition and camaraderie is
ensuring quality entries from all over the world,"
said Sporting Director Fred Gallagher.
First entry to be received was that of Nick Whale who set
the pace for most of the 2006 event after an early delay
in his Porsche 911. Another Porsche is the 356 of Stanley
Gold who will come from California especially for the
event. Kurt Engelhorn returns with his AC Cobra 289 and
Steve Tandy is back, again driving his immaculate Ferrari
275 GTB.
Richard Frankel has entered his newly acquired ex-John
Ruston Alfa Romeo GTAm which will line up alongside Tour
Britannia regular, Howard Redhouse’s Shelby
GT350 and Derek Hood’s Lightweight Jaguar E-Type in the
Competition Category. An unusual sight on the grids will
be Ulsterman Paul McMorran’s Crosslé 7S Oldsmobile
while another exponent of the big American V8, Ted
Williams, has yet to nominate his car.

This “car of the future” could aptly be described as
an original 1930s design brought to life using the
technology of the third Millennium.
To celebrate the centenary of Lancia and
the long standing affiliation between the marque and the
Milanese coachbuilder for its Sport versions, Andrea
Zagato decided to create a Lancia Aprilia Sport
identical to the car built by his grandfather Ugo in 1938.
The complicated process did not start from hand drawn
sketches, as with today's cars, but from two faded
monochrome photographs – the only remaining source of
accurate information.

Chris Jenkins and Tony Brooks have been confirmed as
winners of the 2006 HRCR Night Rally Championship.
Second place on the recent Welsh Retro, the final event of
the season, was enough to clinch the title for Jenkins'
1275 Mini.
Competition was very close throughout the year, with three
drivers still in the battle for the overall title right up
until the last round. The ten-round series, organised by
the Historic Rally Car Register, included
seven different winners.
In the drivers' championship, Keith Jenkins was runner-up
in his Saab 96, ahead of Andy Lane (Ford Escort Mexico).
Meanwhile, Iain Tullie was runner-up navigator, from Susan
McClean.
