A few weekends ago took place the fourth round of the 2009 Classic Endurance Racing. Season. Major race of the calendar, not less than 55 cars had made the trip in the Eifel mountain heart on the famous circuit of Nürburgring. Just before the 1000 km of Le Mans Series, the CER allows as usual to create an essential link with the Endurance World championship in order to remember that the "Ring" was one of the most prestigious race in the middle of 1970s.

From the free practice on Friday morning, competitors had eyes turned to the sky so much this one made threatening. The rain invited itself finally during the first qualifying session later in the morning. It needed thus to wait for the second qualifying session to know the positions on the starting grid.

Showing itself once again to his advantage in the steering wheel of his Chevron B21, Ludovic Caron pocketed pole position with only 1 hundredth on Jean-Marc Lucvo's Porsche 936! In GT2, results so tight let augur beautiful battle between 4 BMW M1 and 3 Porsche 935 in the category.

In the afternoon, after weighing the 3 third best time of the Proto 2 and the Porsche 935 of Stefan Roitmayer (best time of the GT2), which will turn out quite corresponding to the statutory weight, the usual cocktail set up by the organizers allowed once more to advance the pleasant atmosphere within the Paddock.

On Saturday, it is under the sun that 52 cars authorized to take the departure at 3:55 pm. In the first lap, spectators were able to
appreciate the extraordinary fight that were engaged(surrendered) Ludovic Caron (Chevron B21 BDG), Philip Brunn (Sauber C5 BMW) and Michel Quiniou (Lola T280 DFV respectively 2nd, 3rd and 4th) while Jean-Marc Luco, author of a very good departure, led his Porsche 936 to the first place.

 

The Classic Endurance Racing 2009 calendar has arrived! The most famous European Historic series will open, as during the last years, the Le Mans Series meetings.

Please note the new date for the Nürburgring round, to be held on 22 & 23 August, meaning one week ahead the date previously announced.

This fifth season main novelty is a third round on the recently launched Algarve racetrack, in the South of Portugal. This appointment, under the sign of modernity and technology for the endurance classic cars, will bring some hints from the past to these brand new infrastructures.

After a successful 2008 season, with a full grid in each race, the Classic Endurance Racing is waiting for some exceptional cars in 2009: Matra 660, Porsche 906, BMW M1, Ford GT40, Porsche 935… and of course the highly competitive Lola and Chevron prototypes. At stake: a qualification for the Le Mans Classic 2010!

11-12 September: Classic Endurance Racing 2009 - 1000 Km of Silverstone (GBR)

 

The Grand Prix de Pau Historique takes a fresh start. Actually, an agreement was signed between the ASA Basco Béarnais (local Automobile Club) and historic events well known organiser Patrick Peter (Le Mans Classic, Tour Auto, Ronde du Ventoux, Classic Endurance Racing ….- for a new look Grand Prix de Pau Historique.

The quality and the fame of this magic town circuit –same as Monaco-, combined with Peter Auto's know how and experience should allow the Grand Prix de Pau Historique to join the "must do" exclusive club in worldwide historic motor racing field.

The Grand Prix de Pau Historique should take place every other year, giving the owners of major cars the promise of a high level event by turn with the Le Mans Classic and the Grand Prix Historique of Monaco.
