
Founded in 1986, Concorso Italiano is the Celebration of Italian Style™ centered on hundreds of Italian exotic automobiles, with annual showcases of one or more legendary Italian marques and designers. The event is Presented by Girard-Perregaux in Association with Automobili Lamborghini, Pirelli and the Region of Sicily.
Concorso Italiano®, one of the premier events of the famous Monterey/Pebble Beach weekend, held at the Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course, hosted the largest gathering of italian cars ever assembled with fantastic classic cars, as the concours winner, the green 1967 Bizzarrini Strada owned by Gerd Eckstein.
As always, there were lot of new Ferraris and Lamborghinis, but this year there were also more of the cheap italian sports cars. Those ones that not only millionaires can own. Some Alfas, Fiat, De Tomaso Panteras...
There were five featured marques this time: the 100th anniversary of the Targa Florio, 100 years of Lancia, 50 years of design by Giorgetto Giugiaro, 35 years of Pantera and an Apollo reunion.
The Centennial of Coppa Milano-Sanremo has gone to a wonderful red 1950 Abarth 205 owned by Scott Emsley.
The Shell V-Power Qualita unica Award has gone to Ned Tanen’s Ferrari 275 GTB/4. And the Motor Trend Highway 1 classic Award has gone to Adan Figueroa’s 1970 Lancia Fulvia.
Next Concorso Italiano will be held at the Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course, August 2007.
