The 2010 Regis Classic Tour announced The team were hoping to reach the magical Quarter of a Million in 2009, and this has been acheived! The overall figure in 12 years has reached £254,517.27. An amazing result in a dire recession! Against Breast Cancer and Orchid – Fighting Male Cancers have benefitted with donations of £15,113.13 each. The Ladies of Bognor Regis Motor Club have already received 43 deposits for their next weekend of Classic Fun and Fundraising. For the third year the event will be generously sponsored by William Frost of Frosts – one of the largest independent motor dealers in Sussex. The beneficiaries of the funds will be the same as this year, as both charities really need our support and are doing excellent work in research and awareness. The 2010 Regis Classic Tour is heading to East Anglia and will be based at the very comfortable Belstead Brook Hotel to the south west outskirts of Ipswich. This delightful and well appointed establishment have promised an exclusive use arrangement subject to a minimum of 70 rooms. The hotel has a large private car park and excellent leisure facilities. The tried and tested formula will follow that of previous years – as the organisers say – “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. However, there will always be the “odd tweak” to hopefully add to the fun! Participants will arrive on Friday evening in time to sign on and have a tasty 3 course buffet dinner. This will give everyone the chance to catch up with old friends and make new in informal and relaxed surroundings. The tour will leave the hotel after a good breakfast heading into the Suffolk countryside. This year’s selection of venues are delightful. Our East Anglian hosts seem more welcoming than ever. Our first rest halt for Morning Coffee on Saturday will be at Bateman’s Barn. This will be followed by one of the highlights of the weekend - a” whistlestop” visit to Classic Team Lotus www.classicteamlotus.co.uk where Clive Chapman, Colin’s son will be available to chat to participants and show them his father’s wonderful collection of historic racing cars. Our Saturday lunch halt will be at The English Whisky Distillery www.englishwhisky.co.uk with a chance for the non-drivers to sample a dram. Caroline at Crows Hall at Debenham invites you to enjoy a Cream Tea on Saturday afternoon in her delightful moated manor house. On returning to the hotel on Saturday evening there will be a chance to use the very pleasant leisure facilities and relax before the BIG event. A Pre-dinner drinks reception where the Ladies will be delighted to take your money for tombola tickets, will be followed by a Black Tie Gala Dinner celebrating local produce wherever possible, after dinner there will be a Grand Auction and live music to finish the evening off with a swing!
The Sunday leg is always much shorter with a slightly later start to allow for the late night revelry on Saturday! The planned route takes in Belchamp Hall for morning coffee where the classic 1980’s TV series “Lovejoy” was filmed. The last stop of the schedule finishes at Kentwell for a hot farewell buffet lunch and a chance to explore the park, rare breeds and enjoy the spring bulbs.
Crews heading home will leave after lunch. Those planning to extend their weekend head back to Belstead Brook Hotel to: a) either put their feet up or b) join in the optional coach trip up to The Cliff Quay Brewery where there will be a tour of the micro brewery followed by a curry in the adjacent Brewery Tap pub. The total route will be around 180 miles and the entry fee includes all of the following: • 2 nights Bed & English Breakfast in an en-suite room at Belstead Brook Hotel • Buffet Dinner on Friday • Gala Dinner on Saturday • Morning Coffee Saturday & Sunday • Light Lunch on Saturday • Afternoon Cream Tea on Saturday • Hot 2 course Buffet farewell lunch on Sunday • Entry fees into all attractions • Quality tulip roadbook with snippets of information about the route, area and history • Rally plate and rear window stickers • Souvenier photograph • Finisher’s Gift Entry fee is £260 per person sharing a twin or double room. Upgrades are available on a first come first served basis at a supplement (this money will directly benefit the charities). For every £125 you raise in sponsorship you may take £25 off the entry fee – raise enough and enter the event for FREE! The hotel are offering special rates for Thursday and Sunday nights for those wishing to extend their weekend. Auction items are already being offered and include: • A limited edition print by Alan Fearnley titled “Feltham Flyers” signed by Tony Brooks kindly donated by Autosports-Gallery.com and framed at cost by Tony Furr of Frame Base at Barnham • A weekend break at Belstead Brook Hotel kindly donated by the Hotel • Autographed Regis Classic Tour items featuring famous names at Goodwood including: Derek Bell, Will Young, Lewis Hamilton, Jensen Button • Four limited edition Alfredo de la Maria prints kindly donated by Autosports-Gallery.com • A fine Italian Leather Holdall from CB Fine Italian Leathers • A Block print cartoon by Russell Brockbank Tombola prizes already include: Morris Lubricants Classic Golden Film oil, Motoring Books, Hampers, Wine and Spirits. The ladies are still seeking Auction lots and tombola items, so if you have anything you’d like to donate please let them know. The event is open to all Classic Cars registered before 31st December 1979. However the Organisers will accept entries from interesting newer vehicles subject to availability and perhaps a suitable “Bribe” for the charity pot! The reserved list is already very varied with a mouth watering selection of vehicles from all over the UK including Austin Healey, Alvis, Jaguar marques including several XK models, E Type and Mk2, Allard, Corvette, Daimler Majestic Major, Porsche, several MG variants and a Morris 1000 Traveller Woody Estate.
